Marsha A. Voelker
Marsha A. Voelker received her certificate in dental assisting, Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene, and Masters of Science in Dental Hygiene Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition, she received her Bachelor of Science in biology from Pfeiffer College. She was inducted into SPA, Alpha Xi chapter in 2005 and transferred her membership to Alpha Gamma chapter in 2008. She has served as President and on the Historian committee for the Alpha Gamma chapter.
Presently, Marsha is an Associate Professor and Junior Clinic Coordinator for the Division of Dental Hygiene at the University of Missouri-Kansas City since 2007. Her areas of expertise/interests are dental biomaterials, motivational interviewing, and utilization of various classroom technologies, dental hygiene instruction and forensic dentistry.
Marsha is a member of Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team (DMORT), American Legion Auxiliary (ALA), American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and the American Dental Hygienists Association (ADHA). She has published articles regarding power toothbrushes, motivational interviewing, and Preliminary Findings on the Correlation of Caries Risk, Buffering Capacity, salivary pH, Salivary Quality, and Streptococcus mutans in Relation to Cigarette Smoking.
